Hey guys,
A big welcome to the new subscribers to this newsletter. Please do give me some feedback on what you'd like to read more about.
Also to those who do regularly read, please do share this with friends or family who might also be interested! I always feel kind of shy asking people this but time and time again others have told me that nobody cares about us asking the Q more than we think they do in our heads!
I've mentioned social prescribing a few times in this newsletter already, so this week I dug into the mission statement behind the movement itself and how it came about: connecting patients to non-clinical, community based support (think exercise groups, debt advice, bereavement groups etc) alongside their usual medical care.
One observational study found that this recommendation only lead to a 8-9% reduction in cardiovascular risk, but in order to achieve ‘substantial protection’ (greater than 30% risk reduction) you’d have to complete between 560 and 610 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise per week.
Expected to bring about £41B of benefits in the next decade and available to all by April 2028, a trial at a GP practice in Sussex resulted in a 29% reduction in the number of people queuing on the phone.
See you next week!

What do we think of Neko Health?
I reached out to ask about people’s experiences with Neko health, the preventative health startup. I’m interested to share my thoughts on the patient journey and what they offer, but there’s a long waitlist!
Doctors, what are you building?
A call-out to any clinicians quietly building something on the side.
How I got into Longevity

To become a painter, paint.
A reflection on how putting in the reps for something puts you in people’s mind as someone who does ‘the thing’.
Talk to your AI tools the way you'd talk to a colleague.
You don't send a colleague a three-word brief. You explain the context, the constraints, what you've already tried. But typing all that into ChatGPT takes forever — so you don't.
Wispr Flow lets you speak your prompts instead. Talk through your thinking naturally and get clean, paste-ready text. No filler words. No cleanup. Just detailed prompts that actually get you useful answers on the first try.
