Hey guys,
Hope you’re all doing well!
One of my highlights this week was sharing social prescriber (the tool I’m building- more below) with a prominent figure in the GP scene. They gave excellent feedback on its future trajectory and I'm super excited to see where it heads in the coming months.
Below you’ll find some cool announcements as well as things that I found interesting in the health and wellness scenes and thought they would be worth sharing:
Daniel Ek's (yes, the Spotify founder) full-body scanning startup Neko Health just closed a $700M Series C, backed by names like Mark Zuckerberg and Tim Ferriss, to fund further expansion including US clinics. Preventative scanning is clearly moving from wellness trend to serious, well-funded infrastructure. I’m super keen to try out Neko Health’s assessments in London too, watch this space (that’s if I get past the waitlist!).
Midjourney recently announced a huge unexpected pivot into creating a new type of medical scan, which reportedly might rival MRI scans. Some are sceptical about the level of quality that this scan will provide, given that it works through computational processing of ultrasound signals from many different angles and sensors. However the launch video was absolutely mesmerising to watch, and coming from a filmmaking and storytelling background, I couldn't help but feel moved by the introduction of a new technology and the hope that it brings for the future, demonstrated through a beautiful visual medium.
My free social prescribing tool has now expanded from a regional pilot to full coverage across England. It's been brilliant meeting people willing to champion it and use it in daily consultations, including many of the GPs who were early users. I made this whole site using claude code and other adjacent tools, all through natural language and explaining what I wanted and needed. Its amazing what we can achieve now without the ‘technical know-how’.
Building My First App with Claude Code
I'm building my very first app using Claude Code to help orchestrate the whole build and all the logistics around it. It's a genuinely complex project, but having a super fast programmer and problem-solver that can work whilst I sleep has made the world of a difference. I'd love to share the beta with you guys soon. If you're interested, reply to this and I'll send you a link to trial it out when I first launch it.
I watched this YouTube ‘short’ on the topic of coffee that came up in my feed and I couldn't help but notice that everyone in the comments was pointing out how the script was so obviously written by ChatGPT. I find that super interesting because we've now reached the point where the average person online has probably used ChatGPT and, more importantly, familiarised themselves with its distinct writing style. So much so that people are now pointing it out and reprimanding people for being lazy and not doing some of the ‘hard work’ themselves.
RCGP President Prof Victoria Tzortziou Brown published a report on upcoming neightbourhood centres. Neighbourhood and community health services are being positioned as the future of UK primary and community care, with GPs as the clinical bedrock of these multidisciplinary models. The report sets out core principles and practical enablers to ensure these services stay person‑centred, evidence‑based and properly resourced, rather than eroding continuity or core general practice.
See you next week!
